SOCAR Carbamide plant
The SOCAR urea plant is currently the largest project in the country implemented in the non-oil sector, with a total cost of approximately 800 million euros. The project was initially financed at the expense of funds allocated from the state budget. During the construction of the plant, a number of international banks on the basis of state guarantees provided funds in the amount of 500 million euros. The SOCAR carbamide plant was commissioned on January 16. Using 435 million cubic meters of natural gas as a raw material, the plant is capable of producing 650-660 thousand tons of urea. Most of the products will be delivered to Turkey, and it is also planned to enter the markets of the Black Sea and the Mediterranean.
